Recently there has been controversy over what stacey dash(american actress) said during an episode of “fox and friends”. She stated
“Either we want to have segregation or integration, and if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard”. She touched many americans deeply with those words and indirectly sparked a bit of a cultural conflict. The people who believe that we should keep black history month and said channels are saying that we have these channels and black history month because for years before everything was white only and it was unfair to them. Whoopi goldberg stated on “the view” that BET and Black History Month are significant because black history isn’t taught in schools. Whoopi even went further as to state “American history holds all of us and [Dash is] right in that. Yes, we are all Americans, but we’re not all treated like Americans,” she said. “And one of the reasons that there is a BET is because networks wouldn’t take a lot of the shows that have an all-black cast. … Unfortunately, we need things like BET.” ms.dash did not respond to whoopi’s counter argument.
