The strongest and best reasons supporting the viewpoint that daylight savings time should be eliminated are that pedestrian fatalities and accidents increase with DST, the effect DST has on energy consumption is minimal, and the time change associated with DST can cause confusion and grogginess. So, why does it matter if daylight saving time is done away with or not? As has been shown, there are many more hazards than benefits brought about by DST. Many drowsy drivers hit and kill pedestrians solely because of the time change. Likewise, many pedestrians are too tired to get out the way. If DST was not in effect, many lives would be spared, and as a result, many families would not be missing loved ones.
