When kids are not in school, parents face the challenge of finding ways to keep them out of trouble. Usually the two options that come to mind are sending them to a daycare or hiring a nanny. Nanny’s are like a babysitter, but they are set on a more consistent schedule and tend to be more permanent in the long run. Daycares also provide a place for children to be taken care of typically with multiple other children. Although nannies and daycares both offer great care for children, nannies allow for a more flexible schedule, have a greater impact on the children’s social lives, and open numerous beneficial opportunities for the children, that they would otherwise not be offered at a daycare.

If parents have to bring their kids to a daycare center, they might have to leave for work earlier in the morning than usual. Not only would the parents have to get up earlier, so would the children. Children who don’t have to wake up early and leave for daycare would be less likely to be moody throughout the day. If children have a nanny, they can sleep in and so can their parents since they don’t have to go out of their way to the daycare. With a nanny, parents don’t have to pick up their kids and drop them off everyday, they can simply come home after work. Daycares usually have specific hours they are open and when they close. If an emergency were to come up and they parents couldn’t pick their kids up, the daycare may not offer extra time for the children to stay.
