There is much less time spent on review because of less regression over the long break. My friends and I feel the same way about year round school. John Smith said, “I forgot fewer of my math skills over the summer because my summer break was so short thanks to year round school.” John’s statement about retaining his math skills confirms that year round schools lead to academic success. Leaders and decision makers must pay attention to such experiences because they prove that there is a relationship between YRS and summer learning loss. There is a great deal of evidence that proves the advantages of year round schooling for students and teachers alike. To begin with, every parent wants their child to perform well academically, that’s part of human nature. In addition, even the experts agree that year round schooling prevents “summer slip” in students. It’s time for us to demand better and speak up to our Board of Education and let them know that year round schooling is not only wanted but necessary for our future. The time to act is
