Everyday 21,000 people die from hunger and poverty. Seven hundred and ninety five million people do not have enough food to lead a healthy lifestyle. Does the world have a constant enemy just as the Danes do? To feed oneself is the most basic human instinct, but for many it has become a struggle. For Grendel however, this is an easy task.
Just as the Danes had Beowulf, we also have leaders fighting it. There are many leaders fighting against hunger such as Anthony Lake, the founder of UNICEF, and Bill Ayres who is the founder of “Whyhunger” a community based program that helps families in need. Just like Anthony and Ayres, Beowulf volunteers to take down Grendel. Beowulf, Ayres and Lake all took action and made a difference.
