The most common treatment for is anti-epileptic drugs(AEDs). The philosophy behind AEDs is aiming to stop the symptoms and what triggers the seizures for the individual. AEDs doesn’t treat or fix the the epilepsy, it focuses more on treating the symptoms and triggers of seizures. Anti-epileptic drugs is a form of Optimal therapy meaning taking the lowest dose possible in order to get the best results. The medication dose is not fixed for single person who has epilepsy. Medication dosage depends on the types and how many different seizures the individual has. AEDs are taken by the mouth, broken down by the digestive juices in the stomach releasing the medication which is absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed around the body. AEDs reduces the chances of the individual from having any unexpected seizures, these seizures at time could be hazardous not only for the patients health but also for their well being. Unexpected seizures could cause accidents and injuries which depending on the severity of the seizure and the situation might be fatal and cause a more permanent damage than temporary both neurologically and physically. Patient who are continuously and regularly taking their prescribed AEDs reduce the chances of status epilepticus. Status epilepticus is when a patient or individual has continuous seizure which last for about 5-30 minutes. There are two types of status epilepticus, convulsive and nonconvulsive. Convulsive epilepticus the individual undergoes repeated tonic-clonic seizures which in a normal situation would last about 1-2 minutes but in relation to convulsive epilepticus last much longer. Convulsive epilepticus requires immediate medical attention from a trained medical personnel within a hospital setting, this is because convulsive epilepticus is very life-threatening the longer it takes to immediate medical treatment the more fatal the seizures get resulting in fatal consequences for the
