They very often face two different forms of normalization. The first is where they are forced to make normal relations with “the other” as form of survival on Israeli territories. The other form is where Palestinian citizens of Israel do not have to engage as a form of survival yet the absence of alertness in this case somehow shows the Palestinian public how it is possible to live with and accept “the other”.
Over the years, it has become senseless for Israelis and Palestinians to act like nothing is wrong with the status quo and carry on with their lives because this situation has become their truth and just something they need to adapt to in order to carry on with their lives. And this normalization may be more acceptable in conflicts where both sides are equals but not in Israel-Palestine. The only possible way we can normalize this situation is by giving both sides of the conflict equal standing and equal voice.
Many overlook the real problem, which is Zionism. Not only is Zionism the enemy of Palestine and Israel but also many Israeli-born Jews believe that Zionism and the Israeli regime are their enemy not the Palestinians. However, the more popular form of resistance is non-violent resistance yet it remains largely unacknowledged as compared with more violent resistance. Yet the reality remains that Palestinian resistance to occupation and injustice is overwhelmingly nonviolent.
