Artkin is depicted as being a terrorist while General Mark Marchand is portrayed as a patriot, however, as the story goes, we realize through their acts that there is not much difference between a terrorist and a patriot. Artkin is the leader of the four terrorists who is very educated in the sense of terrorism. As described by Kate, the bus driver, we as a reader see Artkin as a “monster” and “madman”.
