I chose As Simple As Snow by Gregory Galloway for my book talk. This book is set in a High school in the North. The town is a small, sleepy, and seemingly unchanging place where no one moves in, they only move out. This makes The Coynes strange straight away as they are the first to ever move in. Anastasia Coyne is completely different from what the narrator has ever seen before as she defies the high school’s cliques and leaves behind her a trail of leads and dead ends, as the narrator tries to figure out what happened to her.
Summary:
Anna Coyne is new at the high school for her sophomore year. The narrator, his name is never given, is an average boy who blends into the crowds and is never really noticed. The narrator, who deems himself to be like a water glass- boring, see through, and unchanging, falls in love with Anna who brings adventure, heartbreak and mystery into his life. The day before Valentines Anna is missing. Leaving only her dress and shoes folded neatly beside a hole in the frozen river next to their school, everyone believes she’s dead- everyone except the narrator.
