Entry 1 It still hurts me to this day that we only have two children. We worked very hard to get Ann, and it seems nothing will go right. All of our crops are bad and droughts are on going. We pray every night to God that he will give us some sort of good crops. He never listens. It might be our oldest son cursing us by getting him killed. He was ran over by an oxen pulling our plows. Very sad day for us, we try not to bring it up because if we do, we all just start yelling at each other. The Oregon land is very fertile according to our good friend John. He also told us to bring lots of food for the journey because food gets very expensive the farther along you are. We are going to miss him a bunch, he cannot go to Oregon because he had triplets …show more content…
There’s plenty of trees for more wood. There is also lots of clean water and a place to rest. We haven’t seen wood in a very long time, like, ages. We staying in Ash Hollow for a day and then we are going to Courthouse Rock. The scenery on the trip is amazing. The bluffs, to the rivers. It is just, really cool to see, this is nothing we would have saw in Iowa. Courthouse Rock is not that far away, so I’m going to write when I get there.

Courthouse Rock is here and the 2 rocks are massive! We only got to see them from a distance though. We’ve decided not to stop because it wasn’t important to us. Oregon was more important and getting everyone there safe was also important. We have already lost an animal and we cannot afford to lose another one. We are going to Chimney Rock and I hope it’s just as impressive.

We headed over to Chimney Rock and it was also marvelous. We attempted to climb it but it was too hard. We’re a couple miles out and a bad storm is coming, I tried telling our wagon train but nobody listened. I finally got them to listen and we stopped. We’ve stopped for the day and we’re under our wagon. Praying for good
