1. Marshas experiences have represented anticipatory socialization because of previous conversations she has had with Rick. I believe the committee already anticipated that Nancy would compact the fulfillment of finding a new pastor based on her “and-thens”. In terms of the organization, they knew that by Joe leaving, it would open up new opportunities for not only him but the congregation as well.
2. 2. Marsha should expect to be asked not only “how” she plans to better the congregation but what she looks for when she is going through the profiles of new church homes. In turn, she should ask what types of ministerial jobs they have available at the church and what type of interaction she would have with the children at the church. The effectiveness of the preview depends on what they discuss in the interview. The interview will allow the organization to develop organizational roles and it will also allow the interviewee to gain a feel for what he or she may expect from the job.
3. During her first few months in Michigan, Marsha should expect to gain knowledge of new roles and the norms and values of the organizational culture through observation, surveillance, or disguised observations. The steps she should take to be prepared once she arrives is the role development processes. These include the phases of role-taking, role-making, and role-routinization.
