Difficulties faced by Asian Americans in realizing the American Dream To this day, the American Dream is still a hot topic of discussion. Many people debate whether the American Dream is more difficult or easier to achieve today. In fact, individuals often ignore personal factors and pay too much attention to environmental factors. When it comes to realizing the American Dream, Asian Americans often face more challenges and difficulties. The issue of racial tolerance in American society, once thought to be settled, is now being debated again (Gage 1). Some argue that racism makes it harder for Asian Americans to achieve the American Dream. Racial discrimination is a problem that has long existed in American society. Is this not a sign of the exclusion of Asian Americans? University of California, Berkeley. Racial issues are not only reflected in labor, but also in schools. After so many problems occurred, the US government also took notice and made improvements to the school. Once upon a time, students in schools could be treated unfairly because of their race, and now legislation is in place to prevent this from happening ("Hartford Panel" 1). Asian Americans will also face attacks on racial discrimination in life or on television. Maybe Asian Americans will be told by passers-by to let them go back to their own place, or may see discriminatory performances in TV programs that maliciously imitate Asian languages. Malice can lurk everywhere (Hans). Asian Americans are still not treated equally in life, although laws have provided better equality in education. Despite the evidence, many Americans argue that Asian Americans are more likely to succeed than other groups. They believe it should be easier for Asian Americans to achieve the American Dream. While Asian Americans may be better educated, they will also face more problems and challenges. The challenges that these Asian Americans face are diverse. Asian Americans often face significant challenges, many of which stem from cultural differences and language barriers. Since the United States uses English as its language, people must learn English if they want to succeed in school or in a career. But many bilingual educators believe Asian American students will lose their native languages if schools encourage them to overuse English. This is a disservice to families and to the culture, as schools need to respect students’ native languages (Asian American Education 2). Reflecting on the values of respect and equality, it is worth noting that once upon a time, America's original leaders signed the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia. One of the important principles is the belief that all people are created equal. Everyone has equal rights to realize their dreams. Everyone has an inalienable right.
