An invasive species can be very dangerous to any area that they are in. They tend to not have a natural predator wherever they are introduced. These types of things happen all the time animals are brought in to take out a different animal then over take and destroy the eco system they were introduced to. A fish was brought over from Southeast Asia to help in the United States to clean up aquaculture and wastewater treatments also, to keep retention ponds clean. Due to constant flooding in the Mississippi River these fish got out and started to take over the River. This fish is the Asian Carp. The Asian Carp has taken the Midwest River by storm because they have no natural predator in the Mississippi river. They also eat Algae and Plankton, which many fish in that river eat. Therefore, they are eating the food other fish are supposed to eat and reproducing extremely quickly. It is said that one third of the fish population in lake Erie is the Asian Carp. There have been many plans that have been brought up to try and help change the population but, not all have worked. Michigan has come up with an idea to have a prize if people come up with an idea to stop the fish from coming any further. They have not found anything to stop, but they may be on to something that could prevent them from going any closer to the Lake. Asian Carps have been taken out of the water but they are still keep reproducing they are struggling to handle the population.
