Section A: I do remember studying the American Revolution and the founding fathers as a child. I remember learning about the taxation disputes, the Declaration of Independence, the Boston tea party, the Battle of Lexington, the surrender in Yorktown, Virginia, and various other battles. There are things that I have reconsidered about the American Revolution, such as how it all began, happened, and the results from it. There was much I had not learned previous to this class. The first thing from the first video that I learned was that the British cut off Boston Harbor to cut off the colonists’ trade to the rest of the world. This is the first time that I have heard this. This was listed into a letter with grievances against King George III. The second was the affect the pamphlet Common Sense by Thomas Paine had on the Colonists. It was a way to promote the independence of America from Britain and it was able to be widely distributed. This was shocking to me, because I was always taught that most of the Colonists were for the war and everyone else was against it. I wasn’t taught that people didn’t care about it. The second thing I learned from this video was that Native Americans also fought in the war. I didn’t think they took sides or fought for either side of the war; I thought they remained stayed out of it. The final thing that I learned from the second video was about the Molly Pitchers. This was the first time that I heard of women having a part in a war before World War I that weren’t disguised as men. These women would bring pitchers of water for the men to drink and to cool of the cannons after they had been
