Preventing Drive-by shooting
The case that I choose Is that the new “Bill Would Boost Police Powers in Preventing Drive- by Shootings: MPP Mike Colle” This was brought up recently that there have been many deaths on the streets of Toronto by hands on Shooters. When drivers are caught with this bill there would be licence suspension and fines for drivers caught illegal guns in their will help curb violence.
To back this up there was a shooting in Toronto where a popular teacher Abshir Hassan, 31, who was fatally shot in a drive- by in Lawrence heights. He was going to his car, but was shot mistakenly at the wrong place at the wrong time. Also the easiest way for a person to get out the situations that when people get caught the only have to say is the car is borrowed and the gun was under the front seat. “Or they’ll say that the gun was in their girlfriends purse, and they didn’t know it was there, or they’ll get an underage person to say its their gun. In addition to the suspension and impounding of the vehicle, the penalties for driving with an unlawful handgun would be a fine between $2,000 and $10,000 and/or imprisonment up to six months and driver’s license suspension for those convicted. Licences would be suspended for one year for a first conviction, five years for a second, and indefinitely for a third conviction.
The bill does
