Introduction
In this capstone assignment, I will discuss Starbuck’s. I will determine the impact of the company’s mission, vision, and primary stakeholders’ overall success. An analyzitation will be performed to identify the five forces of competition and their impact on the company. I will perform a SWOT analysis to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Analyze the Five Forces of Competition to Determine How They Impact Starbucks
Porter’s forces of competition are a key business-level strategy in the competitive environment. The five competitive forces can be identified as potential new entrants, bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, threat of substitute products, and rivalry among competitors. There are barriers to limit the potential of new entrants, capital and economies of scale; in conjunction, they limit the entry of new competitors. Bargaining power of buyer gives customers the empowered ability to make or break a product. Bargaining power of suppliers is the concentration of suppliers and the availability of substitute suppliers that are significant factors in determining the supplier power. The threat of substitute products is the power of alternatives and substitutes for a company’s product that may affect the changing cost and/ or trends of a product. Lastly, rivalry among competitors states that competition among competitors in the same industry and market are codependent upon the actions of the competition (Daft, 2000).
