Winston S. Churchill once said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” Google defines courage by having the ability to do something that frightens one. Strength is defined by the quality or state of being strong, in particular. These qualities can be found in all kinds of people. Ranging from ordinary to extraordinary. One group of people in today’s society who need these characteristics to succeed are athletes. Athletes are a breed of there own. The standards they are held to are higher than the average person. Student-athletes are in a league of their own. Both strength and courage are characteristics student-athletes need to have in order to pursue their goals, even when all the odds are against them. When adversity hits, whether plagued with an injury or all outside factors impact the ability of play. Anglo-Saxon warriors lived by having these characteristics. High school football player, Zaevion Dobson is one. Dobson, survivors would later recall, sacrificed himself, jumping on top of three teenage girls who were sitting on a porch with a few other friends when two men approached and began shooting randomly into the group. He could or ran away to save himself but instead, he put himself between evil and three helpless girls. This took an enormous amount of courage to put his safety under others.
