First of all, my biggest problem with athletes getting paid so much is that they’re irresponsible. They perform foolish (sometimes illegal) actions outside of their career, yet they still get paid millions. For example, NFL quarterback Michael Vick in 2007 was sentenced to 23 months in prison after getting caught running a cruel and inhumane dog fighting ring, and lying about it. Yet still, as soon as he got out of prison, the Philadelphia Eagles signed him to a 1 million dollar contract. For example, buying clothes that cost $15,000 when there are people in the United States that are homeless and starving. Another unnecessary thing that overpaid athletes buy is pets. They buy exotic and almost extinct animals. For instance, Mike Tyson owned 3 endangered white Bengal tigers! Another weird animal that an athlete has purchased is a shark. Gilbert Arenas kept sharks in his home! Some athletes spend money on huge houses for only a couple people. For example, Michael Jordan has a 56,000 square foot house, but that isn’t all. He also has a full NBA court, a tennis court, a weight room, and a pool! Another huge house was bought by Tiger Woods. He built a four hole golf course in his backyard! He also put in a tennis court, numerous swimming pools, and a full gym! From the information above, you can assume that athletes get paid much more than they
