Taking Knees or Displease ? Athletes try to protest police brutality by taking a knee while the national anthem is playing. Many people see that as a disrespectful thing to do, but is it really? They are not disrespecting the flag or america in any way. By simply trying to protest for what they think is right they should not be getting all of this hatred. According to Alex Daniels who wrote the article “Athletes taking knees are exercising their freedom of speech” states that athletes should be able to speak freely as it is their right. They should not be shamed or disrespected for their opinions and actions. He adds that even Trump out of all the people said that “they are stupid” and should be “fired”. In my opinion that is more disrespectful than what the athletes are doing.

for women's rights in January. Around 500,000 people came out to that march in D.C. and many more around the country. This protest gave many people hope. This protest is similar to the one we are talking about now because they both were peaceful, didn´t harm anyone or anything and was for a good cause. Nothing is being destroyed and the government doesn't need to spend money on this, so why not just leave it alone and have people express their freedom of mind and speech. This topic is getting more attention that what is currently happening in Puerto Rico. That should say something about our society and what people think is important or not. Puerto Rico disaster has caused thousands of people to lose their homes. Important big news stations don't want to talk about it. The whole internet is talking about how these athletes are disrespectful and should be fired but no one wants to focus that much attention on things that matter
