I saw a man whose skin was completely peeled off the upper half of his body and a woman whose eyeballs were sticking out. " The World War II that occurred in Europe was nearly over and the United States was focused on Japan. This fighting led to the Manhattan Project being created, the aim of this project was to create an atomic bomb, it was successful in completing this goal. At this rate, the United States was winning the war against Japan, this was because "an Allied naval blockade had already put a stranglehold on Japan" and Americans firebombed parts of 67 Japanese cities. However, as America was winning, civilians in the country wanted the soldiers to come home due to the Japanese mistreatment of prisoners of war and how 400,000 American soldiers died. President Truman warned of prompt and utter destruction if Japan did not surrender. One piece of evidence that shows Truman made the wrong decision is Document G. In this document, we get a testimony from Akihiro Takahashi. Takahashi was a 14 year old student who was in school when the bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. The most disturbing part of his testimony was what he saw on his way home. His testimony shows how Truman's decision hurt many innocent citizens' lives. A second piece of evidence that shows Truman made the wrong decision is Document A, in this document we get statistics of how many people died from the atomic bomb. Most of these people were civilians and some of these people were also Koreans doing forced labor, at the time, Koreans were on our side. Not only were innocent people killed, but allies were also killed. This argument for dropping the atomic bomb is strong because there is multiple pieces of evidence supporting the fact that an atomic bomb should've not been dropped in the first place, let alone
