Character- the mental and moral qualities of a person. Moral- a lesson concerning the right or wrong thing to do. When thinking of Atticus Finch, these are possibly the two most prominent words that would come to a reader’s mind. Bravery can take many shapes and forms. The act of bravery can be shown through an expression on a face or the dedication shown to a cause. Bravery is an underlying theme in the Book To Kill a Mockingbird, and possibly the bravest of the characters was Atticus. One of atticus’s moments of bravery is established when he says to Scout, “You just hold your head high and keep those fists down. No matter what anybody says to you, don’t you let ‘em get your goat. Try fighting with your head for a change.” (Lee 100) In this quote Atticus tries to teach young Scout that there are more honorable ways to defined something she is passionate about than physically fighting.
