Audie Murphy was born in North Texas on a sharecropper farm on June 20, 1924. When he was older he would cop cotton for $1 a day he was known for his accomplishments one of them was his accuracy with a gun he was also an orphan at the age of sixteen and he had only 5 years of schooling. Audie Murphy decided to join the war in 1942 because he was having a difficult life at home; he was 17 at the time. He falsified his birth certificate so that he appeared to be 18 not 17. After basic training he was assigned to the 15th regiment, 3rd Infantry Division in north africa. By the end of the war he had become the most decorated soldier of U.S.A.
