Urban upper class
Professional people such as doctor’s lawyers and accountants. Successful business owners of factories or large shops.
Lived in mansions, large homes or large blocks. Could afford maids and servants to do all housework and cleaning.
Spent time outside the house, women entertained at home, men go to their social club with strict membership rules dress codes and expensive fees, The men also enjoyed drinking and talking about business and politics.
Afforded to eat the best food in the dining including bread tea sugar cakes soups chicken lamb beef pork egg and wine. They could afford to eat all lunch dinner lunch tea and breakfast.

Elegant clothes, nice sequences on dresses they could afford to wear all colours like white Royal blue red orange and vibrant colours showing how rich they are.
Urban middle class
Payed very good on an 8 hour day. Alright jobs only some had jobs as doctors or lawyers.

Afforded a mortgage, lived in 2-3 stories high buildings. They had a small garden may including a veggie patch for the children or little bike riding area for them also.
Play tennis, golf, cricket and a day at the races. Go to the beach, and picnics at the park. Attend ball dances.
They could afford to buy most meats on a Sunday lunch and vegetables but not as much as the rich.

Women wore white garments neck to toe. Men mostly wore hats allot. When they go to the beach women

Child labour- they could clean spaces in the machines that were too small for adults

Lived in block apartments or smallish rundown homes.
Houses in crammed backstreets and laneways.
Overcrowded and filthy and were refer to as the slums.
On average in a small house lived 8 people.
No Sanitation or running water.
There was also no
Sewage pipes for toilets.
Diseases spreaded quickly due to un-hygienic places.

They would work all week and on their weekends the only time for leisure entertainment was only on a Saturday afternoon where they could go to dance in local concert halls.
Football matches or in summer they would go to the beach if they could afford the travel fee or they would walk.
Horse racing was a favourite because they could win prize money with betting. But only the high working classes, low working classes it was rare to go to the races.
