Symptoms include a delay in learning to talk, not talking at all, or even being distant towards others. Also repeated and overused types of behavior, interests, and play (webmd.com). Many children with autism find it hard to go to school because it hard for them to socialize and make friends. Only fifty six percent of students with autism graduate high school. Thirty five percent of young adults (ages 19-23) with Autism have not had a job or received postgraduate education after leaving high school (Autism- society). These triggers include sensory overloading, frustrations with communication and understanding, and skill deficits in many other areas. A child may be functioning reasonably well in an activity, but when the triggers become operative, the child begins to have problems, which can lead to meltdowns. (Geoff 108)
When a child has a meltdown they will often result to a repetitive behavior. These behaviors help the child to feel more comfortable in the environment that they are in. It is also a way in which the child can express themselves. Most behaviors a child performs are odd, for example they could be lining up their Hot Wheels, stacking up the cans from the cabinet, or even wanting a certain number of lights on in the room. If something is not the way the child wants it to be they are prone to getting angry or aggressive. There are a few causes for autism that are known at this time, but research is still being
