Avoidance is shown in the stories “A Christmas Carol” and “Jane Eyre”. In “A Christmas Carol”, Scrooge is the avoider in this story. Scrooge is a person who likes to sleep. He gets tired and attempted to go to sleep easily. In the story, Scrooge goes to bed at about 2 in the morning and doesn't want to get out of bed. He delays the out-of-bed time every time that time that he previously said even more. During his sleep, he is thinking about something and dreaming and gets disturbed. Scrooge lives in a house and is currently living through winter. Scrooge wants to avoid the ghost that he was thinking about earlier. He does that by staying in bed and delaying his wake-up time. Every time he has woken up, he goes back to sleep within minutes.
