Baseball wasn’t immune from all the societal ills that plagued our country from racism, discrimination, segregation to war, if it impacted the world than it impacted baseball. It’s natural to assume when speaking about racism and discrimination that we are exclusively lecturing about African Americans but the reality is that racial discrimination has impacted every ethnic culture in some shape and form. Babe Ruth “existed in a “time when racism was the norm in society and he actually stood up for African Americans. He played in barnstorming games (and did very well against the star players).
