In our discussion in class about the applications of mindfulness for all kinds of professions and hobbies, we noted that mindfulness went hand in hand with visual arts. This conversation made me wonder if mindfulness fits as well with performing arts, like ballet. I searched, “Ballet and mindfulness” in Google and found that there has been a lot written on the subject. While dancing ballet, there are so many things to be thinking of, that it necessitates full attention and full presence of mind. When I dance, I am constantly thinking of where each body part should be, hearing corrections teachers have given me previously in my head, sensing where my balance is, and thinking through the complex patterns of steps. In some ways, ballet is
