In the book Nickel and Dimed on (NOT) Getting By In America, Barabara Ehrenreich mentions the term word “wage slave” meaning that a person makes just minimum wages based on their income and also this individual may work hard due to the fact the jobs are low paying wages. Is this person really satisfied with how much they make, even if they work two or more jobs? Technically, so speaking about her sister, the author notes that she has several low -paid jobs, such as being a phone company rep, factory worker, and receptionist (2). Basically, Ehrenreich is saying that these are the jobs that she had and even though she work very hard and struggle through.
