Barbara Tuchman’s Account on the Bubonic Plague -An Essay Analysis Barbara Tuchman’s essay, “This Is the End of the World: The Black Death” gives a thorough portrayal of the Bubonic Plague. The indications she defined involved strange black lumps appearing which shed blood and pus resulting in sores, unbearable pain, and a rapid death. Other overwhelming physical symptoms occurred simultaneously with mental collapse and agony. This plague spread at a fast-tracked frequency as it existed in two forms concurrently; in the blood and through the lungs. However manifested, both produced an ominous result.
