From a young age many girls do not usually think about their body image, but when the barbie came out in 1956 this whole aspect changed. Girls have even stated that they have become depressed and felt like they had an unhealthy body image. The amount of girls that achieve the “perfect image” is around one in every 100,000 girls; these numbers show that their are not many ultra-thin and since most young girls desire this, it causes depression. This “Barbie depression” has in many cases gone to extreme measures; this image of perfection has caused suicide in extreme cases and has raised many questions of if Barbie really is a good role model for young
