The Nation Democratic Convention is a time where the Democratic party would elect a candidate to run for president. This particular convention is special because Barbra Jordan was the first African American to become a keynote speaker. She was asked to deliver the keynote address. Barbra Jordan was also the first African American elected to the Texas state senate as well as the becoming a part of the congress.
