In the article, “Bariatric Surgery in Adolescents” published in August, 2008in journal of school Health. Bill Hyman, PhD (professor of Health Education) Kari koo, RD (Clinical dietitian Specialist) and Davis Ficklen , MD( Assistant Professor of Heath education)describe how many health professionals view this surgery is the most effective treatment. The problem they identify is the treatment of obesity among the pediatric population is often unsuccessful. The authors argue that obese adolescents with life- threating, Bariatric surgery is considered the only effective treatment. Their studies have shown that the prevalence of obesity has severe health problems’ effects leads many young people to have the Bariatric surgery.
