Barry Winchell (Private First Class) died yesterday from injuries sustained during a beating involving a baseball bat. Winchell had been serving in the army since 1997 and was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Winchell had apparently been dating a transgender woman. Justin Fisher, Winchell’s roommate, had spread rumors of the relationship around the base, and Winchell faced harassment. Calvin Glover is suspected to be the one who murdered him. Winchell and Glover were involved in an altercation earlier which ended with Glover being defeated by Winchell. After the altercation Fisher harassed Glover for losing the fight.
