Families are always welcome, which is why we offer one, two and three bedroom cottages. The staff here at Basin Harbor Club are especially grateful to the families who make visiting the club an annual tradition, giving us the opportunity to watch their families grow.

1. The Origins of the Christmas Tree
Germany decorated evergreen trees as part of the country’s winter solstice tradition. The first true ‘Christmas’ tree was not named until the beginning of the 17TH century. In 1848, an American newspaper included a picture of a Christmas tree. Following this exposure, the custom spread to almost every American home in just a few years.
Quirky Tradition:
This tradition is extremely clever. Each Christmas a family places a small evergreen tree on their roof directly above where the actual Christmas tree is in the house. This makes it look as if the tree is literally breaking through the roof.
