I chose to write this essay about an article from the National Review titled "The Bastardization of the Boy Scouts." This is a very conservatively written article, about how the Boy Scouts of America is changing their name to Scouting America. The authors claim that the Boy Scouts have "abandoned their traditional role of instilling traditional masculine virtues in boys, becoming yet one more arm of a progressive culture-war blob".

That criticism is pushed forward by very little evidence, other than a CBS news article where they interviewed the BSA Communications Director, who said the name change is to open the organization up to LGBTQ members. From the author's point of view, that name change is yet another tally mark on the whiteboard,
