The Battle of San Jacinto was on April 21,1836 near La Porte, Texas. The Battle of San Jacinto was the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. The Texans were led by General Sam Houston. The Mexican army was led by Santa Anna. Santa Anna was a Mexican politician and general. Texian Army defeated General Santa Anna's Mexican army in a fight that lasted just 18 minutes and won independence. Santa Anna believed the Texans would not attack.
On April 21, Houston ordered the Texas army to attack the Mexican army while they were resting and were not prepared. The battle lasted about 18 minutes. Texas won independence. Santa Anna signed two treaties at Velasco (one public and one secret). About 50 texans were killed, 98 captured and some were kept
