In the management position, pursuing the role of the sender, Marines were given a gear list with specific items that would be required for the upcoming field operation. Subordinate Marines of the electrical section, assuming the role of the receiver misunderstood the reasoning for bringing some of the items on the list. In the management position, a failure to follow up with the subordinate Marines of the section with more detailed information and a gear inspection led to the failure of completing the issued task. The take away from this misunderstanding was an individual in a leadership position must inspect what is expected.
