This paper will take a look at Brazil’s current market trends and crime statistics to provide background for the significance of vanity in Brazilian culture, then give explanation of how vanity affects day-to-day life in southeastern Brazil. Following that will be an analysis of the Christian perspective on vanity and an overview of the possible Christian responses to Brazilian culture. Finally, this paper will justify that the appropriate response to Brazil’s beauty-centered culture is a transformative one, and apply this position to the professional workplace.

Possible Theses
As a Christian, we are taught to not discriminate by looks, but also not to try to achieve popular standing (research more). However, for Brazilians, appearances determine how they interact with people. How does a Christian manager in the Brazilian workplace interact with the overwhelming weight put on physical beauty? This paper will look at four Christian responses to culture, and use Scripture to determine the appropriate choice.

In an unequal country such as Brazil, one’s citizenship may be determined by one’s status as a consumer – exclusion from consumption leads to frustration and hinders participation in society
Consumption, especially through the body, is a material means to position oneself within the hierarchies of gender, class, and
