The book Newjack: Guarding Sing Sing, in brief is about a correctional officer who in beginning of the book is a newbie or “newjack” to the job working at Sing Sing prison (Conover, 2001,10). Ted Conover explains what the process was like for him to become a correctional officer and what the academy process is like to go through (Conover, 2001). All of chapter two, titled, “School for Jailers” consists of experiences through the academy (Conover, 2001, 13-56).
