Proposal for Behavior Change Plan

This analysis of the Functional Behavior Assessment for Angel, an 11-year-old, 6th grade student with ADHD and SLD reading has found the following information obtained from observations by the IEP team. A change in Angel’s behavior plan is proposed due to the following.

He frequently takes their belongings, sneers at them, and makes rude comments. His peers do not like his behavior and do not enjoy being his target. Angel is either taking belongings or making inappropriate or argumentative comments to his peers 44% of the time. These interactions lessen instructional time and disrupt the class dynamics.

Angel is sent out of the room, to the principal’s office, or verbally reprimanded for his behavior. Verbal warnings and reminders of classroom rules, using respectful language with peers and adults.

Angel’s behavior gains attention from his peers and the teacher. By acting out, he is the center of attention. Angel is also avoiding doing the work in his English Language Arts class, which leads to the belief that he has difficulty reading. He would rather act out and face the consequences than admit he has an issue. By creating distractions in the classroom, not only does Angel take the attention off the lesson, but he avoids completing assignments and homework.
