[Title] “Being locked up in prison strips you from your material possessions and gives you time to think and focus on your flaws,” a memorable comment made by Chad Thomas. Most people who have never been to prison tend to judge without trying to understand what leads up to the decisions made upon entering that path. When thinking of an ex-convict the mind tends to automatically label these people as unfit members of society. As I interviewed my father, I gained much knowledge needed on how broken homes and less parental guidance can influence and lead to poor decision making in life. When thinking of people who have been incarcerated do you think of what type of families they might have had or how they were brought up? The first step in understanding is to look at the childhood and upbringing they had during their adolescence. In this case Chad’s childhood was not so bad. He loved playing with animals and having fun outdoors. As a child, he told me he loved his childhood, "it was fun, best memories were as a kid.
