Out of the novel, “Benito Cereno” written by Herman Melville, I chose the introduction to the setting and character scene because it’s the most important among others. Melville’s novel opens with grays: “everything gray”; “the sea… was sleeked at the surface like waved lead that has cooled and set in the smelter’s mold”; “flights of troubled gray fowl, kith and kin”, these quotes from the passage have a significant involvement in the beginning. This section of the novel stuck with me in view of the fact that it had me read the passage thoroughly to truly understand the meaning and importance in the beginning of the story.
