Main Characters
Benito Mussolini is seen as the “father of fascism” because of how he decided to begin the practice of this ideology through how he ran his government. He had certain radical ideas that lead him to dedicate himself to the Socialist political party of Italy because, according to Goldberg, Mussolini was “interested in creating a new socialism, a socialism in one state, a national socialism”(Goldberg 45). Although his efforts were much inspired by the ones achieved and established in Italy, Germany’s National Socialism, as established by Hitler, was based strongly on anti-semitism, racism, hatred, and power, although he believed he was working toward benefiting the German culture and nation. Hitler’s Nazism was distinguished by the fact that “it forthrightly included a political view now associated completely with the political left: identity politics” (Goldberg 73). The syntax of the book was that of a novel and properly structured to clearly present what the main concepts were supposed to be as well keeping the information grouped with one subject without inherently mixing points or arguments.
The tone of the book was overall serious since the author was informing about a controversial ideology that depends on the judgment of the people, but it also involves humor in order to lighten up any arguments that might be misunderstood.
The point of view of the book is third person for when he is telling the history of people or events, but it changes to first person when stating his argument and defending
