We head into the DePaul campus, named after Saint Vincent De Paul, one of Sacred Heart Cathedral’s holy founders. This campus is where all the visual and performing arts classes and clubs reside, the big choir rehearsal room, the high tech theatre, and the artwork all around the hallways make it one of my favorite places to be. My backpack was an anchor weighing me down with bulky textbooks as I stumble up the staircase, approaching my locker on the right side of the campus. Let me tell you one thing every freshman will say on their first day: “I couldn't open my locker”. Although many middle schools had lockers, getting used to the new combination for most people would be difficult. My old grammar school didn't even have lockers, the junior high kids still used cubbies so the change took some getting used to. I raced over to the cross walk, waited for the light to finally turn white meaning I could walk, ran across the street and burst through the front doors of the Lasalle pavilion and I knew I was almost home free. I hustled down the ramp, pushed through the doors near the main office, went down 2 flights of stairs and sprinted across the first floor hallway. The classroom door was wide open I ran through it, pulse racing, gasping for air like a fish out of water, sweaty and my hair disheveled. “I-I’m H-ere!..” I exclaim out of breath. I take my seat in the first row against the back wall and take a deep breath. “DONG.DONG.DONG!” The bell rings as Ms. Koony finishes up
