In an interview with Holocaust survivor Berni Roth, he tells me“I fell asleep in Austria and when I woke up,I woke up in Germany, can you imagine that?” lets take a step back,the Holocaust was a period that stretched from 1933 to 1945, after Hitler came to power in 1933. The Holocaust was a state-sponsored plan to kill all European Jews led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. The word “holocaust,” comes from the Greek words “holos” (whole) and “kaustos” (burned). This was historically used to describe a sacrificial offering burned on an altar. Initially, the Natzis used anti-semitic laws and bans as well as harsh and imitating propaganda to isolate Jewish individuals from the rest of the world and community.
