Within the NHL, there have been some really good teams, and some really bad ones. When I say dynasties, I don’t mean about China. I’m talking about a time frame of years where a specific team was really, really good. For example, if I were to say “the 1962-’67 Toronto Maple Leafs”, that is one dynasty. Some go on longer than others. The Detroit Red Wings Dynasty went on for 11 years, while the Edmonton Oilers Dynasty went on for 6 years. One of the greatest dynasties of all-time was the 1980-’83 New York Islanders. The dynasty was short, but it was worth it. The Islanders, just under 10 years of being in the NHL, had already won their first Stanley Cup. They won it against the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime with a goal from Bobby Nystrom.
