'Betraying The Community In Agnes's Sin'

Your country is the place you grew up in, the people that you grew around, and the place that will determine your future. Your friend is the person you hold close relations to and always sticks by you. Would you betray the country or betray your closest and dearest friend? In “Sin”, Agnes chooses to betray the majority rather than her one friend, leading to multiple issues. By choosing to not betray her friend, she lied to her mother, her superior, and her beliefs. She committed a grave sin and caused many to be angry with her actions. As precious as it is to be true to your friend, it’s proven by the text and personal experience that there are much greater problems when betraying the majority; therefore I would rather betray my friend than my country.

My brother had snuck out of the house because he was getting yelled at, at home. I had decided to be on his side when I was asked if he left the house. My elders had already known that he left the house, so they knew I had lied. Because of that one lie, I lost the freedom I had, and my family stopped trusting me. But if I had betrayed my brother and told them the truth, I wouldn’t have gone through the issues that I had. I would have had to deal with one issue of my brother hating me, but because he is my brother, he would have forgiven me since he would understand the consequences. Therefore, if they’re really your friend, they’d understand the situation and forgive you. But the majority, the country, they don’t know you and have no connection to you, therefore they have no reason to understand you or forgive
