Since most countries prohibit Syrians to enter, they are left to decide either to stay in Lebanon or go back to Syria. Staying in Lebanon involves poor living conditions, being treated poorly, and struggling to find work. Going back to Syria puts these individuals in danger because parts of the country are still at war. Much of Syria is unlivable, public services are not in operation, the economy is broken, and reconstruction is little to none. The author makes the statement about the U.S.’s determination to not allow refugees into the country.
