Worldview Paper
A person’s worldview is based on their philosophy of life, a framework a person brings to decision-making, or a filter/lens that a person uses to interpret life and the world around them. (Weider & Gutierrez, 2011, 59) Every person on this planet, has a worldview of some sort and that world view is shaped by the many different teachers that a person has throughout one’s life. (Christian Worldview Journal, Stonestreet, 2010) In the presentation by Dr. Weider and Dr. Gutierrez, Dr. Weider used a great analogy of wearing red lenses and how everything around you will be perceived to be red. (Genesis 1:1, NKJV) In order for someone to believe that life began by that statement, they would have to have a biblical worldview as we Christians do. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God (God breathed), and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. My biblical worldview has influenced me to do so. I should be ever conscious of the words that come out of my mouth, because the tongue, though small, boast great things. Both good and bad, this ought not to be so. (James 3, NKJV) My biblical worldview must also influence me when I vote in all elections and my vote should be cast in favor of the candidate that best supports a Christian perspective. My vote should be cast in favor of the one who is able to “state what they believe and why.” (Hindson & Caner, 2008, 499) I should vote for a candidate that is not a lover of this world, but rather one that does the will of God.
