Americans have certain unalienable rights that are given to them by the documents and laws that were made for the people and by the people. A few of the documents include The U.S. Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and The Social Contract. The U.S. Constitution states rights and laws such as equality among the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch. The English Bill of Rights is part of the U.S. Constitution and states some of the unalienable righst of the people such as no cruel and unusual punishment. The Social contract is about how different forms of government work and how the citizens must give up some of their freedoms in exchange for protection by the government. The First Amendment is freedom of religion as in anyone in this country can practice any religion they chose. The Second Amendment is the right to bear arms (or the right to own guns. The Third Amendment states that citizens are not required by law to house military personnel. This is important to the history of America because when Britain was in power, the citizens were forced to house the soldiers and the military were often very rude and greedy toward the people and their homes. The Fourth Amendment states that the government of government personnel must have a warrant and probable cause in order to search private property. The Fifth Amendment is that citizens cannot be tried for the same crime twice and this Amendment also consists of the right to remain silent. This Amendment helps to prevent the ways that the government might try to abuse its people. Amendment six is the right to have a jury of peers, the right to have legal representation, and the right to have witnesses in a trial. This Amendment is to keep the government by the people and to try and make juries a fair as possible. The Seventh Amendment states that civil cases must be tried by a jury. The Eighth Amendment is no cruel and unusual punishment as well as no excessive fines. The Ninth Amendment is that people also have rights that are not included in the Bill of rights.
